Bone soldier
Bone soldier is the plainest of the restless dead. The natives' dead have been stranded at the threshold of the Deep since the Breaking, and Umbra can reach them where that threshold presses close to the ground. A mage raises them with Raise bone soldiers. The work began with Odrin Half-Core, in the Age of Odrin.
Its bond is shallow. The Sealborn say so little life is borrowed to stand a bare frame that mana alone keeps it on its feet, and it draws no folk from the kingdom. Because the bond is shallow, its master can release the borrowed life and dismiss it. Nothing forces the kingdom to keep it.
It keeps no corpse across Turnings. When a raised form is unmade, its remnant falls back to the threshold to wait.
Poison finds no flesh in it, fear finds no mind, and arrows pass between its bones. But Lumen lies across the ring from Umbra, and the Sealborn say holy light cuts the dead deepest.
